LA Riots

The last time that I saw LA Riots was in Chico at the El Rey Theater, and while the number of attendees might have been low, the energy level was high as the Eiffel Tower! LA Riots started making music in 2007 on the 15th anniversary of the 1992 Los Angeles riots. He chose the name as a way to reflect and represent the aggression in his music. He combines indie rock, dance, and electro to pump out songs that will keep your body moving like there's no tomorrow. LA Riots began as tour support for the Bloody Beetroots and MSTRKRFT in 2008, and expanded his sounds to fuse drum and bass, house, and techno. He has had a positive response from fans, and continues to keep the party going at every venue he plays. Widely known for his popular remixes, LA Riots will be providing us with a fun, energetic show at Coachella 2012 on Friday, April 13th and 20th.

Check out his MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter!

Wolf Gang

Not to be confused with Wolfgang Gartner (now hold onto your "aww man's" and "dang it's" just a second!), Wolf Gang is a British symphonic/alternative rock group lead by vocalist Max McElligott. He is accompanied by drummer Lasse Petersen, from The Rakes, and guitarist Gavin Slater, from Ghosts. The tripod has been standing tall since 2009, having opened for bands such as The Killers, Florence and the Machine, Metric, and Miike Snow. And if you're still thinking about how sad you are that we will not be seeing Wolfgang Gartner, then you clearly haven't watched the video above, or below. Wolf Gang brings a truly upbeat, and British style, and ladies, let's face it, there's something very sexy about McElligott; even his name is interesting and shows a twist to something quite average. Wolf Gang will no doubt use their charm and musical talents to swoon us and make us all dance in an exceptionally great way. They will be playing at Coachella 2012 on Friday, April 13th and 20th!

To learn more check out their website, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and as always, Wiki!

Death Grips

Finally a Cali based band. Death Grips comes from Sacramento, and their style is not for the weak or polite. Dubbed experimental hip-hop, the group combines heavy beats with in unique vocals to create the Death Grips' sound. The band consists of three members, vocalist Stefan Burnett, and the production team of Zach Hill and Andy Morin. Death Grips was formed in December 2010, so they are a relatively new artist. They will be playing on Friday of Coachella, and you can find them on Facebook and Twitter.

Manchester Orchestra

Straight out of Atlanta, Georgia, Manchester Orchestra is ready to rock out at Coachella this year. The band is named after Manchester, a city in England that is known for its rich music history. Manchester Orchestra is full of talent as well. Lead singer Andy Hull wrote and recorded a full length album while he was a senior in high school. Pretty impressive. They fall into the indie category, and their songs have a lot of emotional tones to them. To date they have released three albums. Manchester Orchestra will be playing on Saturday. You can follow them on Facebook and Twitter. Peace and Love.

M. Ward

Sweet tunes, good vocals, and creativity seem to sum up what is M. Ward. From Portland, Oregon, Matthew Ward set out to create his own solo project after working in a few other bands. He is also known for his work with She & Him and Monsters of Folk. M. Ward is his solo project in which he mainly contributes on the guitar and with vocals. His music sounds like a mix between indie rock and old school country similar to Johnny Cash. Ward will be playing on Friday, and you can find him on Facebook and Twitter.

Madness

Madness is about to unfold at Coachella, literally and figuratively. From London, the rock steady ska band was formed in 1976, and saw most of their success in the mid 1980's. The band consists of seven members, that's a whole lot of stage room. Madness broke up around 1986, due to band members living in different places. In 1992 they decided to reunite and have stayed together ever since. Madness will be playing on Friday, so stop by their stage and check them out.

Firehouse

In a time where long hair, leather, Motley Crew, and Guns N Roses was in, Firehouse found it's own niche in the rock-n-roll scene. From Charlotte, North Carolina, the band formed around 1989. The height of their popularity came in the early nineties. At the 1992 American Music Awards they won the award for Favorite Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock New Artist. As the glam rock fad started to fade in the United States, Firehouse continued to see success in many Asian countries through the nineties and even into the 2000's. Firehouse will be playing on Saturday of Coachella so check them out.

WU LYF

WU LYF (pronounced Woo Life) is an indie rock band from Manchester, England. The name WU LYF stands for World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation. Pretty dark and creepy, but these guys definitely have some good tunes. The band originally became known for this mystic vibe, as they would always decline interviews and not release much information to the press. This was rather fascinating that they could keep the band such a mystery in a time where social media keeps everything out in the open. WU LYF will be playing on Friday at Coachella so be sure to check them out. And yes even though they used to be the mystery men, you can now find them on Facebook and Twitter.

The Rapture

Hailing from New York City, the Rapture is coming all the way over to the West Coast to rock out and show us a good time at Coachella. The band formed in 1998, when drummer, Vito Roccoforte, and guitarist/ vocalist, Luke Jenner, started making jams. Their style is very interesting as they pull from influences in indie, disco, electronica, acid house, and the post-punk revival. Their style is quite upbeat so they should be able to get your feet moving on the dance floor. To date, the Rapture has released four studio albums that you'll want to check out. They are playing on Friday, and you can follow them on Facebook and Twitter. Only a little over a week until weekend one gets here!

Metronomy

In 1999 Joseph Mount of England knew something that most of the rest of us didn't... that electronic music was the way to go. So he left his role as a drummer in various bands, and decided to form Metronomy. They mix in vocal electronic pop with their electronic instrumentals, and remixed artists ranging from the Gorillaz to Lady Gaga. To date they've released three albums of original music, most recently in 2011. Metrnomy incorporates drums, saxophone, keyboard, bass, guitar, and vocals into their songs. The stylish foursome includes Joseph, Oscar Cash, Gbenga Adelekan, and the token female, Anna Prior. They're music will make you dance and think of better days. And if you're ever bored, their music videos are quite sexy and fun as well. During their performances, dancers and lighting are used heavily. They are most known for performing with push lights stuck to their chests. This was inspired by a spur-of-the-moment idea Mount had upon seeing the lights in a shop. Metronomy will be sure to put a little wind under our wings at Coachella 2012, where they will perform on Sunday, April 15th and 22nd.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds

Yet another awesome band that was only just started back in 2010 is Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. This British rock group came to be after Oasis split up, leaving former lead singer, Noel Gallagher, to make a musical move. There was speculation for a while that he would being a solo career, but then the other chaps came into his life, and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds was formed. They're only, self-entitled album was released last year, and was nominated for various awards in 2012. Their sound is whimsical and calm, and if you try really hard, you might even feel like Oasis is coming through somehow. The name is very symbolic, and could be thought to represent the post-Oasis success that Gallagher has achieved. His birds are certainly flying high, and making beautiful music for us all to hear. We are lucky to get to see one of music's greats this year at Coachella 2012, where they will be playing on Saturday, April 14th and 21st!

For more, check out their page on wikiFacebook, and Twitter!

Wild Flag

Very stoked these ladies are getting a chance to play a Coachella. Wild Flag has a upbeat tempo to their style, very rock-n-roll. All the members have extensive musical backgrounds, playing in multiple bands, and different ventures. So when they formed this band back in 2010, it didn't take long for the magic to happen, and the songs to start flowing. Wild Flag will be playing on Sunday, and you can follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

AWOLNATION

AWOLNATION has a style of their own, and very different from any other artist at Coachella. Dubbed electronic rock, these guys have a very high energy feel to them. The band was created by front man Adam Bruno, and is named after his nickname in high school. Their first recordings were done at Red Bull Records in 2009, which was pretty cool to find out. AWOLNATION is playing on Saturday, and as usual you can find them on Facebook and Twitter. Have a great weekend everyone!

Oberhofer

Now, I think it is cheating to just copy and paste the text about a band without doing some rewording, but in this case, I have fallen somewhat in love with the bio on Oberhofer's Facebook page (not to mention there is no Wikipedia page for them-- hint, hint to a fan;), and will be copying it entirely. The link for the following "excerpt" is HERE, and states:

"When your songs are too big to be contained: form a band. Maybe call it after your family name because you like the way it sounds (shit, if it worked for Bon Jovi then who's to argue). Record those songs in the basement of your parents house in Tacoma. When that burns down, shake it off and move to New York. Find a new band to play with, start working on a symphony (no really, do it), mix your newfound formal training with the noisy exuberance of youth. Get raucous."

Fairly brilliant if you ask me. Brad Oberhofer, age 21, was not destined for music heaven until he was hit by a car at age 13. This left him with a melody playing over and over in his head, and inspired him to teach himself to play it on the piano. When he first started out, he was playing all the instruments in all the songs, as well as playing the vocal role. Now he has a band, and they still play under the name (his last) Oberhofer. Their lo-fi pop, indie rock, and coincidence pop songs are full of joy and will no doubt put a huge smile on your face and in your mind. Oberhofer will be showing us their stuff at Coachella 2012 on Sunday, April 15th and 22nd!

For more tuneage check out the Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace of the amazing Oberhofer!

Jeff Mangum

We'll stay with the Southern musician trend today and cover Jeff Mangum. Straight out of Louisiana, this guy knows how to compose a song. Best known for his work with Neutral Milk Hotel, and a cofounder of The Elephant 6 Recording Company, Mangum is a seasoned vet in the music game. He is the jack of all trades when it comes to playing instruments, knowing how to play guitar, drums, bass, and the organ. Mangum will be playing Saturday, so check him out.

Cat Power

Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Chan Marshall, also known as Cat Power is bringing her mellow rockability to Coachella. Marshall grew up loving soul, country, and rock-n-roll. You can tell the influence it had on her style of music, and the music she creates. She has been producing music for over 20 years now, so she's no newbie to this rodeo. She will be playing Friday. You can find her on Facebook and Twitter. Almost here people.

Andrew Bird

During the weekends of Coachella you will most certainly encounter some times when you feel exhausted beyond belief. Now, I cannot say this from first-hand Coachella experience, as this year will be my first to attend the festival, but I can say it from first-hand experience with weekends and events like this in general. We will all hit that point where our feet are sore, our legs are rubbery and stuck to the ground, our arms are tired from waving them around like monkeys, and our minds have left us because we haven't been sleeping enough, and have been partying, probably, a little too hard. But fear not festi friends, for when these sorts of feelings begin to take over, don't be afraid to take a break! And in this moment of R&R you should highly consider checking out Andrew Bird! The Chicago native is known for his singing, songwriting, violin and guitar playing, and quite possibly the most impressive of all...his whistling. His indie rock/folk and baroque pop songs are nothing short of euphoric. He brings the right dose of energy to help steer those rainy, and sunny days, right where we want them (a happy, fun, and thoughtful place), and will undoubtedly woo us all. Bird grew up using the Suzuki method starting at age four, which focuses the pupil on their environment so that they may learn from it and learn through it. His first solo album, Music of Hair, was released in 1996, and since he has put out many, many more. He's a sight for sore eyes, and has got the sounds to match, so be prepared to take flight! Bird will be performing at Coachella 2012 on Saturday, April 14th and 21st!

Follow him on Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace, and don't forget to check out his website!

Ximena SariƱana

At the young age of 2 Ximena Sariana went to an Ella Fitzgerald concert that would end up determining her path in life. Active in the entertainment industry since 1994 when she began playing roles in movies produced by her father, Fernando Sarinana, and telenovelas, Ximena was destined for the spotlight. This 26-year old, Mexico-native started taking singing lessons at 7, and can take credit for writing most of the songs on her first album, Mediocre, which came out in 2008. It was a contemporary pop-rock/vocal jazz album, and critically acclaimed, nominated for an array of awards, including a couple in the 2008 Latin Grammy's. When developing the album, she had a desire to get more in touch with her native tongue and took the album as a challenge to connect with her roots. Her musical style is a blend of pop, jazz, rock, and alternative, graced by enticing lyrics and a rocker voice. Ximena's songs were made for dancing to, so you better come prepared to move, whether you're aware of it or not. She will be performing at Coachella 2012 on Friday, April 13th and 20th.

You can follow her on Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter!

Thundercat

Thundercat is one new artist you are going to want to check out. Stephen Bruner's style is this experimental, almost psychadelic, jazz, electronic experiment. If your thinking he sounds a little bit like Flying Lotus, that is because he's part of Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder crew. His stage name is influenced by the old cartoon Thundercats. His beats have this very relaxing and mellow tone to them. Thundercat will be playing on Sunday at Coachella, and you can find him on Facebook and Twitter.

Refused

Refused has a pretty intense style, but it all comes together for a quite unique sound. Formed in 1991, and from Sweden, these guys definitely know how to rock out. The band released five EP's and 3 albums, but split up in 1998. Now they are reuniting, and just in time to play at Coachella. If I was going to lump their music in a certain category it would be this hardcore, experimental, punk rock genre of rock-n-roll. They will be playing Friday. Follow them on Facebook and Twitter. We're only three weeks away people :)

The Hives

While they say they were claimed in 1993, the Swedish garage rock band, The Hives, didn't gain recognition until the 2000s! Their popular song, "I Hate To Say I Told You So" took brought them mainstream success and popularity as a garage rock revival band. Members include Howlin' Pelle Almqvist, Nicholaus Arson, Vigilante Carlstroem, Dr. Matt Destruction, and Chris Dangerous. They are known for always wearing matching suits of only black and white, which change style with each album they release. They're released four albums to date, with a fifth coming out this year. The Hives have put on many shows in their time, and are sure to make us feel as though we're in their garage when they perform at Coachella 2012, where they will be playing on Sunday, April 15th and 22nd.

Get more info on their Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace pages, as well as Wiki and their website!

Mazzy Star

Mazzy Star brings a very interesting dynamic to the Coachella lineup. From Santa Monica, California, their music sounds almost similar to the concept of "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd. It has this almost psychedelic tone to it. The band started in the 1980's, saw most of their success in the 90's, broke up in '97, and reformed in 2010. So it will be interesting to see this group come together at Coachella. I'm not a big fan of 90's music, but these guys have a pretty mellow, almost trippy feel to them. They will be playing on Friday at Coachella so check them out. Peace and Love Ya'll.

Arctic Monkeys

Hailing from England, the Arctic Monkeys come to Coachella with heavy rock riffs, and a high energy sound that is sure to get you up and going. Alex Turner, Jamie Cook, Nick O'Malley, and Matt Helders make up the group. They have released four studio albums to date, and are regarded as one of the major bands responsible for the post-punk revival in the UK. This is apparent by listening to their music. Their style sounds like a new-age punk rock, with simple rhythms, but an indie vibe to it. The Arctic Monkeys will be playing on Friday. You can follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

DJ Shadow

Josh Davis, better known by his stage name as DJ Shadow, has put his own style and mark on music production over the years. The man is from Davis, CA, and went to UC Davis, where he was also a disc jockey for the campus radio station. His debut album, called "Endtroducing", was the first album recorded album using strictly sampled sounds. This album was voted in the Top 100 Best Albums of All-Time, in 2006 by Time Magazine. Shadow is known for his sampling techniques, and has over 60,000 records to prove it. A very intriguing individual to say the least. He will be playing on Sunday at Coachella. You can follow him on Twitter and Facebook. It's almost here people, just a few more weeks.

Grace Potter & The Nocturnals

Hailing from Vermont, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals have been making sweet sounds together since 2004. The group is made up of Grace Potter, Matt Burr, Scott Tournet, and Benny Yurco. They're folk rock, blues, roots rock, and hard rock blends are powerful and take you straight back to Woodstock. The band's talents range from all different types of guitars, to the mandolin, and they incorporate multiple instruments into each of their songs. The band was formed in 2002 after drummer Matt Burr heard Potter singing folk songs in a student-run venue at the St. Lawrence campus, and has been steadily releasing albums since 2005. They have an ultra-cool look, feel, sound, and vibe, and with Potter's vocals to lead their way, there is no doubt in my mind that they will rock our worlds. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals will be lifting our spirits and elevating our mentals at Coachella on Saturday, April 14th and 21st.

To hear and learn more follow them on their website, Wiki page, Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace!

The Gaslamp Killer

William Bensussen was born and raised in San Diego, CA with the sounds of Jimi Hendrix, Too Short, and Dr. Dre guiding him along the way. When he was 17 he started to dj in the Gaslamp district of San Diego, but became well-known for ruining the pop music vibe that the clubs had going on. And so The Gaslamp Killer came to be! He produces music from Flying Lotus' record label, Brainfeeder, and produces hip hop, glitch, dupstep, psychedelic rock, and instrumental hip hop tracks that will leave your head spinning (in the best way, of course). And since his move to Los Angeles in 2006, he helped found the weekly showcase for uncut and beat-driven tracks known as Low End Theory. Bensussen will be sure to bring his high energy, wild hair, and filthy bass into our lives at Coachella, where he will be playing on Sunday, April 15th and 22nd.

To learn more go to his website, Wiki page, and follow along on Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace!

Florence and the Machine

The English indie pop group, headed by lead singer Florence Welch, comes to Coachella as one of the bigger acts. Their music has a very emotional yet somewhat soothing vibe to it. Florence adds very powerful vocals to round out the style of the group. The band has only been together since 2007, and released their first CD in only 2009. They will be playing on Sunday at Coachella, and you can follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

Sub Focus

Nick Douwma, or Sub Focus, is about to grace Coachella with his heavy bass lines, and catchy beats. From England, the man has been producing since 2003, and has had some pretty good success over the years. His single "X-Ray/ Scarecrow" was number one on the UK Dance Charts in March of 2005. He reached that spot again with another single called "Rock It/ Follow The Light" in June 2008. The man knows how to produce a track, and we are excited to see him mix at Coachella. He will be playing on Saturday, so get ready folks.

The Shins

Coming with some sweet tunes, and rock-n-roll, The Shins are ready to perform for all us Coachellites. From Albuquerque, New Mexico, The Shins have been around for quite some time now. To date, they have four albums released, and a bunch of EP's and singles as well. Their style is described as alternative rock, as well as indie. Either way, these guys know how to produce some rockability. They will be playing on Saturday. You can follow them on Facebook, and you guessed it, Twitter. Happy days people.

Zeds Dead

Zeds Dead is ready to bring the bass to Coachella, the only question, is Coachella ready for this bass? The dubstep duo from Canada, produces some pretty heavy tracks. Their style is a this dubstep rhythm mixed with hip hop influences infused to make what is Zeds Dead. The sound is pretty gangster, and it will surely get you moving. They will be playing on Saturday, and as usual you can follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

Buzzcocks

Hailing from England, the Buzzcocks have been around for a while now, 1976 to be exact. The English-based punk band, was a major force behind the punk rock movement during this time. The band formed while Howard Devoto and Pete Shelley (which are not their real names) were going to college at the University of Bolton. The band's riffs are simple, but they sure do capture that grungy punk essence. They will be playing on Saturday, adding to the dynamic range of genres represented at Coachella.

EMA

If it's been a while since you've had yourself a good trip, I highly suggest checking out EMA. This chick is totally wild in her style and creates some of the trippiest songs and videos I have ever experienced in my life. Erika M. Anderson, known as EMA, is from South Dakota and makes some of the most interesting indie and noise rock songs around! She has had herself quite a long career; starting out with Amps for Christ, who she played with until the early 2000s. Next she went on to form the noise-folk band Gowns in 2006, and broke off in 2010 to embark on her solo career. Her 2011 album, Past Life Martyred Saints, received positive feedback and she was noted as someone the music world should pay attention to. And while we are from California, Coachella is in California, and it is notably one of the greatest places around, I feel it necessary to include the following video in this post simply as a way to demonstrate EMA's no fear style! She will rock her way into our minds, bodies, and souls at Coachella 2012 on Friday, April 13th and 20th.

To learn more follow her on Facebook, check out her website, and look at the Wiki page!

Frank Ocean

Christopher Francis Ocean was born in New Orleans in 1987 and got his start in music as a ghost writer for the likes of John Legend, Beyonce, and Brandy. Known as Frank Ocean, his debut album, Nostalgia, Ultra, was recently released in 2011, and focuses on sending a message about relationships, personal reflection, and social commentary. He is a man with a message and just listening to his tracks takes you exactly where he intended you to go. He's got style to boot and a beautiful mind for creating lyrics. Deep and heartfelt R&B and hip hop are mixed with a soulful and contemporary twist to make Frank Ocean who we now know and love. He's come quite far from his days with OFWGKTA, and we can only expect a moving performance from him at Coachella 2012 where he will be driving the girls wild on Friday, April 13th and 20th!

To learn more go to his website, Wiki page, and follow him on Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter!

Modeselektor

Modeselektor is an electronic duo from Berlin, Germany. There style is described as experimental electronic. Listening to them, you can tell they pull from a lot of different styles, such a hip-hop, trip-hop, drum and bass, and electro. I wouldn't put them into a specific genre. Their music is very chill, good to kick back to and maybe light one up if that's your deal. The group has been putting in work since 1996, and is a favorite of Thom Yorke (frontman of Radiohead). Again, another group that you can tell is very talented with what they do. Modeselektor will be playing on Sunday of Coachella (why did they have to stack so many good ones on one day). You can follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

Santigold

Santi White, aka Santigold, is an American songwriter, from Philadelphia. This chick has swagger and a beautiful voice, and her beats are pretty good too. The style of her songs is very laid back, and it's easy to see how talented she is. White attended Wesleyan University, where she majored in Music and African American Studies. Santi was the lead singer for punk band Stiffed, and was offered a solo contract while playing for the band. She offers a dynamic sound, that almost sounds like a new-age reggae mixed with an indie influence. Santigold is playing on Sunday, and you can follow her on Facebook and Twitter.

R3hab

This man brings the Dirty Dutch straight to your face. Fadil El Ghoul, more popularly known as R3hab, is one of the newer producers in the game, but that doesn't mean he's not one of the better. Hailing from none other than the Netherlands, R3hab's productions are up there with the best of them. Artists such as Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia, and David Guetta have all used his singles and remixes in their sets. He's also done some work with fellow Dutch artist Afrojack. He will be playing on Friday, and you can follow him on Twitter and Facebook. Peace Ya'll.

Morgan Page

Morgan Page, raised in Vermont, homebase Los Angeles, and holding it down for the good ol' US of A in the EDM community. The man has been around for a while now, so this isn't his first rodeo. While Page was in high school, he did his own weekly radio show in Vermont at WRUV 90.1, the rest is history. His style is described as progressive house. Page has five albums released to date, along with a ton of remixes. Be sure to check him out on Facebook, and Twitter. He will be playing on Sunday at Coachella, so give him a listen.

Feed Me

Jon Gooch, also know as Feed Me and Spor,  is a dubstep/ electro producer from England. Feed Me dabbles more into the electro side of the EDM game. He is signed to Deadmau5's label mau5trap, and has a couple EP's released. He is planning on releasing an album later this year. His style is similiar to Skrillex when Skrillex was making more electro-dance songs. This is not to say he is replicating what Skrillex does, just comparing the two styles. You can find him on Facebook and Twitter. He will be playing on Friday of Coachella.

The Weeknd

Dang Canada! First Drake and now Abel Tesfaye, or as his fans know him, The Weeknd! This Ethiopian record producer and recording artist got his anonymous start in 2010, but did so in an unusual way... he put out songs, but no one knew who the man behind the music really was. In March 2011 he released the first cd of a three-part series, House of Balloons. The song featured above, "High for This," was used for the final season promo of Entourage, and House of Balloons was nominated for the 2011 Polaris Music Prize. The Weeknd has been called the best musical talent of his time, the songbird of his generation, and the best talent since Michael Jackson! For me, there's nothing like dub and hip hop, so The Weeknd couldn't be anything short of a dream come true. He combines post-dubstep and contemporary hip hop with arthouse, and R&B, making some of the most sexually pleasing sounds around. As for his serious fans, they call themselves the "Airheads" as a take-off on the Balloons cd. At 22, The Weeknd has accomplished more than most in the industry, and we can expect him to continue to blow our minds in the future. He will be breaking hearts all around this year at Coachella 2012 on Sunday, April 15th and 22nd. (You may want to bring a change of clothes;)

To learn more check out his page on Wiki, and his website, Facebook, and Twitter pages!

A$AP Rocky

This guy has his swagger on lock. Rakim Mayers, or A$AP Rocky, comes from Harlem, New York. One of the young guns in the game, this guy is getting it. The man has not lived your average life, definitely comes from the school of hard knocks. His dad was arrested for selling drugs when he was 12 years old, and a year later his brother was killed in front of his apartment. Through it all, Rocky found a way to rise above it and become a successful rapper. He will be playing on Saturday of Coachella.

Datsik

If your looking for some dirty, grimy bass in your face you came to the right place. Troy Beetles, also know as Datsik, is a Canadian-based dubstep producer. He is relatively new to this experience compared to others. He decided to start producing after hearing fellow Canadian dubstep artist Excision, play at Shambhala Music Festival in 2008. He has had several number one releases on Beatport, as well as collaborating and playing with artists such as Diplo, Wu Tang Clan, Bassnectar, Steve Aoki, Nero, and others. He likes to describe his style as dark and robotic, yet funky and gangster. The name Datsik, came from his old Xbox Live gamer tag. He will be playing on Friday. You can follow him on Facebook and Twitter, check him out. Peace and Love.

Sebastian Ingrosso

This Italian house DJ and producer hit gold the day he was born in South Africa and all the days following when he was raised in Sweden. Sebastian Ingrosso grew up in his father's studio learning how to make music and released his first official remix through Mega Records at the ripe age of 17! Ingrosso heads up the A&R department of his own record label, "Refune," that has produced artists like AN21, Max Vangeli, Alesso, and Style of Eye. In 2009 he won the award for the highest new entry into the record charts, something that has only been surpassed by Deadmau5. And as if all of this weren't impressive enough, he is one of three brilliant parts that make up the renowned Swedish House Mafia (along with Axwell and Steve Angello). Explosions In The Sky

Explosions In The Sky is a post-rock band from Midland, Texas. Their style is quite different from anything else, with their sounds being almost soothing and mystic. Devoid of any vocals, EITS is strictly instrumental, and it is noted that their performances are highly emotional, one you will not want to miss. The band primarily plays with three guitarists, and a drummer. When listening to their music, it sounds as if they are taking you through a journey of some life event. Their sounds are definitely something you can vibe to, or even "trip out" to. They will be playing on Friday for Coachella, and you can follow them on Facebook. Happy days people.

David Guetta

Pierre David Guetta, better known as David Guetta, is one of the more popular DJ's in the music industry today. Coming from France, Guetta has been in the game for some time now (44 years old, DJing since 17). His style is more of a pop electro fit, and he has done collaborations with Akon, Kid Cudi, and LMFAO among others. Many pop artists come to Guetta to produce beats for their songs now-a-days. The man has sold over 3 million albums and 15 million singles worldwide. He came in at number one on the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ's, which is a testament to just how big he has become. David will be playing on Satuday, and you can follow him on Twitter and Facebook.

The Black Keys

In a time when electronic music is starting to become very popular, and many musicians are not talented, The Black Keys manage to give us that old school style of music our parents grew up on. The rock-n-roll, blues duo, consisting of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, give the music scene a breath of fresh air through all the crap that clutters it today. Hailing from Akron, Ohio, these guys have been putting in work since 2001. In a time when modern day blues is starting to fade, The Black Keys offer a sound full of heavy and colorful rock riffs. They have released seven albums to date be sure to give them a listen. The Black Keys will be playing on Friday of Coachella, and you can check them out on Facebook and Twitter.

SBTRKT

Pronounced "Subtract," Aaron Jerome got his start as a dj in London back in 2008. Now known as SBTRKT, he produces and plays electronic, future garage, and post-dubstep jams. He was born in London and spent his early years remixing songs by Modeselektor, Radiohead, M.I.A., Basement Jaxx, and more. Jerome chose the name SBTRKT as a way to represent the anonymity he wishes to keep. He wants to use his music to express himself, rather than talk about who he is and what he's doing. SBTRKT is all about the music, not the man. In order to further emphasize his anonymity he wears native societal ceremonial masks that have been created and infused with a modern twist. His songs have a relaxing feel with an electro touch. He has been working a lot with Sampha lately, where their shows involve live instruments, triggering vocal loops, and an assortment of other instruments and mixers. SBTRKT will be playing at Coachella 2012 on Saturday, April 14th and 21st!

Zedd

Anton Zaslavski, better known as Zedd, is a 22 year old producer from Germany. His style is described as "Zedd style" which is a mix between electro house, dubstep, and complextro. The man has talent through the roof. He has been playing the piano since age 4, played the drums in a hardcore band at the age of 12, and is now an up and comer in the EDM scene. He's only been producing electronic music since 2009, so the sky is the limit. Zedd is currently signed to Skrillex's label OWSLA. He is playing on Sunday at Coachella so be sure to check him out.
