Flux Pavilion & Doctor P

The boys from the UK are back, and ready to give us some heavy bass music. Joshua Steele (Flux Pavilion) and Shawn Brockhurst (Doctor P), co-owners of Circus Records, are major players in the dubstep game right now. With hits like "Louder" and "Superbad" its easy to see why. The Doctor has figured out a way to elude me the last couple shows I was supposed to see him at, and I've never had the opportunity to see Flux, but this is duo is my personal headliner for Sunday. I've been waiting to see them in action for a while, so I'm hoping everything holds up and we get some UK bass music. If you haven't heard of these guys and call yourself a fan of dubstep, it's in your best interest to check them out. The beats these guys drop are unlike any other dubstep producer, unique sounds and drum lines make up this in your face style of bass music. Can't wait to see these guys, and hope you all join me. Peace and Love.

The Head And The Heart

Hailing from Seattle, Washington, this indie folk-pop group consists of Josiah Johnson (vocals, guitar, percussion), Jonathan Russell (vocals, guitar, percussion), Charity Rose Thielen (violin, vocals), Chris Zasche (bass), Kenny Hensley (piano), and Tyler Williams (drums). Now, back in August when I slapped a "The Head and the Heart" bumper sticker on my lap-top, I had no idea who they were, or if they were even a band. I just knew that I really liked the words. But I am now incredibly happy to be representing them everywhere I go! Formed in 2009 and picked up by Sub Pop Records in 2010, The Head and the Heart creates beautiful harmonies and magical melodies. Their music is absolutely perfect for a play day in the sun, or a rainy day where all you wanna do is stay in bed and snuggle. The Head and the Heart have certainly proven that they possess the gift of music, and I'm very excited to check them out at the festival! They will be playing at Coachella on Saturday, April 14th and 21st, so get ready to be wooed!

Avicii

The year 2011 was a big year for Avicii. He was on the road non-stop, while running a podcast, dealing with Leona Lewis trying to take his beats, and producing bangers of course. I was blessed with the chance to see Avicii twice last year. Once at the Music Box in Los Angeles, and the other time was at the Wavehouse in San Diego. Needless to say, both times I left throughly satisfied with my decision to go see him. Tim Bergling, from Sweden, first entered the EDM scene around 2008, with a remix of the theme song to the Commodore 64 video game Lazy Jones. The first track that gained him notable popularity was the single "Seek Bromance" released in 2010. He has also released tracks under the aliases of Tim Berg and Tom Hangs. Being only 22 years, you can see the future is bright for this producer. His beats are so uplifting and full of life, it leaves you feeling pretty motivated to go take the world by the horns. He will be playing on Sunday, adding to an already stacked lineup that day, but he is one you do not want to miss. You can follow him on Facebook and Twitter. We hope you check him out, he's one of our favorite artists. Paz y Amor Todos!

La Roux

While La Roux may appear to be a solo act, it is actually a brilliant duo reigning from the land of English breakfast, double-deckers, and Green Street Hooligans-- England, of course! Elly Jackson (singer, keyboarder, co-writer, and co-producer) and Ben Langmaid (co-writer and co-producer) joined their magical music forces in 2006, and have been pumping out electropop and synthpop jams ever since! They are supported by Mikey Norris on the keyboard, Mickey O'Brien on keyboards and backing vocals, and William Bowerman on the drums. The name "La Roux" came from combining the French terms "le roux" (meaning masculine) and "la rousse" (meaning feminine), and represents Jackson's red hair and tomboy appearance. She considers herself to be androgynous, and proudly takes on and rocks the role of the "red-haired one." La Roux recently (as of February 2011) won a Grammy Award for the Best Electronic/Dance Album, and has been nothing short of amazing with each song that is released. Jackson's voice is so pure, and her look so fresh, making La Roux a must-see for this festival weekend! La Roux will be performing at Coachella on Sunday, April 15th and 22nd.

Madeon

So you're 17-years old growing up in a world flourishing with new music, new technology, and new production opportunities. What are you supposed to do? Well, jump in head first, balls out, wearing your creativity on your sleeve, and don't look back, obviously! And that is exactly what Hugo Leclercq, better known as Madeon, did at the young and ripe age of 11 when he started composing music. This French, electropop producer picked up a nu-disco sound very early on and since has gone on to combine electro, dance and house into his feel-good beats. Madeon's music has a way about it that just makes you feel alive on the inside and fun on the outside. You can't help but shimmy, shake, foot tap, head bob, and air-keyboard it up when one of his upbeat jams comes on. He has done some killer remixes of Pendulum, Deadmau5, Wolfgang Gartner, and Yelle, and has gained major recognition for his use of the Novation Launchpad. His most-known song "Pop Culture" (video above) takes 39 pop songs, and combines them into one. If you just took another listen after learning that, I can't help but know your appreciation for the song just grew exponentially (as did mine). Madeon will be playing at Coachella on Friday, April 13th and 20th, so be sure to check out this under-age megastar!

GROUPLOVE

I had the opportunity to see GROUPLOVE at Outside Lands this past year. I had no idea who they were, but my buddy Johnny convinced me they were a must see. He couldn't of been more right. The indie rock group from Los Angeles, played with such a presence and energy that was so positive and vibrant, that in my opinion was one of the best performances of the festival. Hannah Hooper, Christian Zucconi, Sean Gadd, Ryan Rabin, and Andrew Wessen make up the quintet. Watching their performances you can tell that not only do they truly love what they do, but they truly love each other, and come together to make great music. The story of how they came together is even better. Hooper was a painter barely skating by in New York, while Zucconi was a musician and bartender in the same boat. Two days after they met, Hooper received an invite to an artist colony in Crete. Of course Zucconi joined her on the trip, where they slept on a twin bed and bathed in the ocean for 10 weeks. This led them to meet the rest of the band and the rest is history. In an interview with SPIN Magazine, Zucconi said, "We were all at a weird crossroads in our life. We got to know each other with a clean slate" and goes on to refer to his bandmates as soulmates. It was a match made in Heaven. They play on Saturday at Coachella, and you can follow them on Facebook and Twitter. Love makes the world go around.

Bikechella

So you just got your Coachella tickets, your group sent in the rental agreement and check for your vacation house, but you realize your 4 miles away from the venue. Sure you could walk it, but that would take a long time. You could call a cab, but most likely your going to wait for hours, because everyone else is doing the same thing. That's where the guys from Bikechella come into the picture. The concept is so great, yet so simple. Basically, Bikechella is renting out bikes for the festival go-ers easy transportation. Now you don't have to worry about walking miles, and wasting your time, you can rent a bike and get your exercise in for the weekend. Bikechella will also be holding weekly contests in which you can potentially win free tickets or a free bike rental. What a smart group of individuals. Check them out on Facebook and Twitter. Cheers to you Bikechella

Beats Antique

Beats Antique has a style which can't be matched by any other modern day artist. The group originated in San Francisco, CA in 2007. This trio, made up of David Satori, Zoe Jakes, and Tommy Cappel, mixes a variety of genres to make a unique sound that would best be described as world electronic, not to mention that Jakes adds the art of belly dancing into the performance. Definitely something that is uncommon to most to performances today. By watching their music videos and live performances, you can see how creative and talented the group is. It's really impressive the way they incorporate so many live instruments into their performance. These guys will provide you with a truly eye opening experience, so check them out Sunday at Coachella. Over and out folks.

Gotye

I hope you are all ready to have your minds and preconceptions BLOWN! Gotye is an Australian-Belgian multi-instrumental musician and singer-songwriter whose talent ranges from vocals, percussion, guitar, keyboard, drums, and the synthesizer!! "Gotye" comes from "Gaultier," and is the French translation of "Wouter;" which is quite fitting since his birth name is Wouter "Wally" De Backer. Not only has he independently released three albums, and one remix album, but he is also part of the Melbourne based band The Basics. His solo-style is classified as indie rock and experimental rock, and his understanding and love for music are apparent in every song. But not only are his songs amazing, his music videos are out of this world! The artistic skills behind his videos are a trip all on their own, and one I highly suggest you taking!

Gotye will be playing at Coachella on Sunday, April 15th and 22nd!

And just because I can't get enough..here's an extra music video to really show the wide scope of digital art used! :)

For more information check out the Gotye page on Wikipedia or his website! Or follow on Twitter or Facebook!

araabMUZIK

Abraham Orellana is one of the most gifted individuals in the music game right now. Better known as araabMUZIK, he's been playing drums since he was 3, and producing songs since age 10. Needless to say, he's been around the block when it comes to making a song. His claim to fame is his talents on an MPC drum machine. Orellana is the ultimate producer with this tool. His production relies heavily on samples that are cut or chopped, along with drum sounds, to create hip-hop and dubstep beats that are high-energy and unique from any other hip-hop producer. He's collaborated with artists such as Cam'ron, The Diplomats, and Busta Rhymes. He'll be rockin' out on Sunday at Coachella. If you want to see some amazing work on the drum pads check him out. Peace and Love Ya'll.

Borgore

Let's just say Borgore has a couple tools missing from his shed. Different, to say the least. Asaf Borger fuses hip-hop sounds, with dubstep beats, to create this hardcore dubstep style that's unique from any other artist. The Isreali-born producer is the former drummer in the Isreali death-metal band Shabira, and likes to describe his music as "gorestep". He also owns his own record company called Buygore. His songs definitely have this awkward, kinky feel to them. You can't hate on a man for doing his thing, and Borgore does his thing. He plays on Saturday at Coachella, so if you want to hear the new genre of "gorestep" unfolding, go check out the pioneer. Cheers ya'll.

Alesso

My Italian brother from another mother, the prince of electro, Alesso. This 18 year old has already taken the electro world by storm with his remixes of Devolution's, "Good Love" and Alex Kenji's, "Pressure". Alessandro Lindblad hails from Sweden, but comes from Italian bloodlines, and this cat produces nothing but bangers. His rise to fame has been fast, but he's had a little help from the boys of Swedish House Mafia. At one point, people thought he was Sebastian Ingrosso's (Swedish House Mafia) son. The year 2011, was Alesso's first year of touring, and a year in which he was voted number 70 in DJ Magazines "Top 100 DJ's." Looking at his interview with DJ Mag, it was surprising to find out that one of his favorite artists is Skrillex, and one of his favorite places in the world is the good ol' US of A. So we better show him a good time when he comes to Coachella. The sky is the limit for this kid, and he will continue to be a force in EDM for years to come. He plays on Friday at Coachella, an up-and-comer that you will not want to miss. Check him out on Facebook, Twitter, and SoundCloud.  Peace ya'll.

St. Vincent

St. Vincent- "Marrow"

While her birth certificate says Annie Erin Clark, her fans know her as St. Vincent. She's an American singer-songwriter who was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but grew up in Dallas, Texas, and whose musical talent goes far beyond her vocal skills. She learned to play the guitar at the age of 12, and picked up the bass and keyboards as well. Prior to embarking on a solo career, she was part of The Polyphonic Spree and Sufjan Stevens', and since forming her own band has collaborated with the likes of Kid Cudi and Cage, as well as with Bon Iver on "Roslyn" (which was featured in The Twilight Saga: New Moon). Maybe if we're lucky they will join forces again right before our eyes at the festival!

This indie/baroque pop-art/math rock gal will bring your musically inclined senses to a happy halt with her edgy jams. Her music has a fun, funky, and interesting sound to please any level of listening you might desire, and her lovely face is perfect for producing such a lovely voice. To watch her perform her music makes you fall in love with her and drift away to a nostalgic place. She'll be playing on Saturday, April 14th and 20th, so put her on your "To See List," and get ready to be taken to your happy place!

Breakbot

Breakbot must of been a prominent 70's disco DJ, who died and was reincarnated in the modern day era. Thibaut Berland hails from France, and is signed by Ed Banger Records, which also employs fellow Coachella artists Justice and SebastiAn. His electro-funk style is sure to get the party going, and the dance moves a flowin'. Breakbot has two EP's released to date, but that doesn't tell the whole story. With a encyclopedia's worth of remixes and dance mixes, you're sure to find something that fits your fancy. You can find Breakbot on Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace, and he will be playing on Friday both weekends. Get ready to party like its 1975.

NOISIA

Nik Roos, Martijn van Sonderen, Thijs de Vlieger make up the Dutch electronic trio known as NOISIA.  Originating in 2002 from Groningen, Netherlands, these guys pump out a wide variety of tracks, from drum-n-bass, to dubstep, and even your standard get-up-and-dance house music. Their music is dynamic, and full of life, but there is also a dark, ominous tone to their style. NOISIA found their niche through the internet, when Mayhem's Shadow Law Recordings found one of their songs on a message board. The rest is history. From 2005-2009, they released tracks under the name Drifter, but realized having tracks out under both names was confusing to fans. So in 2009, they went back to NOISIA. The group has two released studio albums to date, and owns three record labels (Vision, Division, and Invisible Recordings). These guys provide dirty house music, and some high-energy drum-n-bass, that you can let loose to. NOISIA plays on Sunday of both weekends at Coachella. Check 'em out, and dance, dance, dance.

The Dear Hunter

The Dear Hunter- "What It Means To Be Alone"

The Dear Hunter is an Indie Rock band that hails from Providence, Rhode Island. They incorporate a solid amount of alternative and progressive rock sounds, but throw in a broad range of instruments that gives them a sound to really elevate the mentals! Originally The Dear Hunter was just a side project for Casey Crescenzo, formly of The Receiving End of Sirens, but Casey had written some songs that wouldn't work with TREOS' sound. So just like that *BAM!,* The Dear Hunter came to head! Their first three albums (Act I: The Lake South, The River North, Act II: The Meaning of, and All Things Regarding Ms. Leading, and Act III: Life and Death) are part of a concept/story that Casey developed. He planned out the story so that each "Act" follows the birth, life, and sudden death of a boy in the early 20th century who is known only in the stories as "The Dear Hunter" (hence the band's name). The Dear Hunter is comprised of Casey and Nick Crescenzo, and Maxwell Tousseau who joined the Crescenzo brothers in 2010. When they go on tour, they are also joined by Robert Parr, Connor Doyle, and Nick Sollecito. Their music has that feel-good vibe to it that makes you want to wander around outside with the sun shining down on you, and the universe and the music guiding your way! They create upbeat, catchy, and emotional songs that can suit your every mood. Ever since February 2, 2006, when they played their first show, The Dear Hunter has been pumping out songs adored by music lovers everywhere.

The Dear Hunter will be playing on Friday, the 13th and 20th of Coachella, so get ready our festi friends, because we are in for a musical treat!

Jimmy Cliff & Tim Armstrong

If punk rock and reggae hooked up and had a baby, this would be the final product. Jimmy Cliff and Tim Armstrong come from two separate worlds in the music industry, but have come together to form their new reggae-ska duo. Cliff is a world renown reggae artist from Jamaica, recognized for hits such as "I Can See Clearly Now" and "The Harder They Come". He even holds a seat in the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame. Armstrong was the front-man for the punk-ska band Operation Ivy, and later on the hardcore-punk groups Rancid, and the Transplants. He's also the owner of Hellcat Records. In November 2011, Cliff released an EP, produced by Armstrong, called "Sacred Fire" that includes a cover of the Clash song "Guns of Brixton", as well as a cover of Rancid's "Ruby Soho". The group plans on releasing a full studio album this year. These guys should provide a much needed mellow vibe through all the madness that is Coachella, so break out your lighters and spliffs, and enjoy the tunes.

Atari Teenage Riot

Talk about an in your face experience, Atari Teenage Riot takes it to a whole other level. The band originated in Germany in 1992 as an attack on the Neo-Nazi subculture. Classified as digital hardcore, these guys bring a unique sound of drum-and-bass, mixed with punk and techno. The group consists of three members: Alec Empire, Nic Endo, and CX KiDTRONiK. If your looking to stomp around, go dumb, and maybe even mosh a little bit, ATR is the group your looking for. They are currently signed to Dim Mak Records, which is owned by Steve Aoki. For more information check out their website: http://www.atari-teenage-riot.com.
